completed the Yacht House, a modern residence in a suburb of Vilnius, Lithuania, near the edge of a forest. The goal of this project was to build a family home that would reflect the lifestyle of its inhabitants, especially the owner’s love of boating.
Soaring ceilings and walls of windows create a bright, airy feeling in the contemporary house. The layout was planned according to the privacy and social needs of the family; the bedrooms are hidden from visitors, while the social areas were combined in an open plan.
White walls, maple wood, anodized aluminum and lots of glass create a contemporary scheme in the triple-height living area. The large aquarium is a decorative reference to the sea; a swimming pool and jacuzzi in the courtyard continue the water theme outdoors.
Straight lines evolve into rounded walls and curving design elements, evoking the feeling of being on a large yacht. On the kitchen island, for example, the base turns into an “S” shape, creating a surprising visual effect. [Information provided by Studija Lape; photography by Leonas Garbacauskas]
